Down at the Manhattan Beach Pier, with its rounded end and the odd Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab out there, an aquarium with exhibits and live, local fish in tanks. The pier's design was by A. L. Harris, and engineer who decided a rounded end would help the pier withstand occasional heavy waves. It sort of worked, until the late eighties, when the pier was rebuilt, a concrete copy of the original. It's cool, and there are surfers and the yearly nationally-televised beach volleyball tournament...
