The Hollywood Palladium opened on October 31, 1940 with a dance featuring Tommy Dorsey and his Orchestra and his new boy-vocalist Frank Sinatra. During World War II, the Palladium hosted radio broadcasts featuring Betty Grable answering servicemen's song requests. In 1961, it became the home of the Lawrence Welk Show – and so on and so forth.
