Mulholland Drive runs along the spine of Los Angeles, high above everything. The view west is the wide Pacific, with Catalina out there on a clear day. The city is below, with the best views from the Griffith Observatory. Baldy and Big Bear and the other mountains march south from there. The view north from Mulholland Drive is the San Fernando Valley far below and the mountains beyond - the high desert is beyond those. It's an unusual topography for city. It makes for great views.
