It's one of the silliest buildings in Los Angeles - the Beverly Hills City Hall, 1931-32, by William J. Gage and Harry G. Koerner - a baroque Spanish Renaissance tour de force. It has a history. In 1923, Beverly Hills was threatened by a proposal to annex it to the City to Los Angeles, but local residents Will Rogers and Mary Pickford mobilized local voters.
