America needs Hollywood. Boston now has nine feet of snow, with more on the way. In fact, everyone from Chicago to Maine, and down into the Carolinas, is snowed in, and the wind-chill is far below zero all over the East – but here in Hollywood it's hazy sunshine, and it's in the seventies, and over on Hollywood Boulevard they've closed the streets and they're assembling the Oscar stuff again in the block that runs from the Chinese Theater, past the El Capitan, over to the Dolby Theater, where they'll hand out the awards. This is six days out, the Monday before the event, which will be late on a sunny Sunday afternoon here. That's prime time back east, where folks will hide inside to watch the stars on the red carpet and all the rest, as the wind howls and the snow blows outside. Here it will be mellow. They're building the set now. ~ Monday, February 16, 2015
