It's municipal art. West Hollywood built a new public library across the street from the Pacific Design Center down on Melrose, and it's an elegant but bare modern group of large boxes. It needed something, so the City of West Hollywood commissioned Shepard Fairey to slap on his signature giant murals, and he came up with his iconic Peace Elephant, writ large, along with a huge dove, and a wall of blue hieroglyphics.
