Some good came out of the Great Recession. Los Angeles had to abandon a three-quarter-billion-dollar Frank Gehry mixed-use development project downtown, and came up with a park instead, right in the middle of the city. Grand Park, which opened in 2012, runs from the Music Center on Grand four blocks down to our iconic 1928 City Hall, that's in all the movies, and the new park is filled with fountains and lawns and stages and this and that.
